Thinking Partners

Sue Mosby President/Thinking Partner

For President and Thinking Partner Sue Mosby, the launch of Infinium represents a career evolution 25 years in the making. Until recently, Mosby was a principal and owner of leading architectural firm CDFM2 (now 360 Architects), where she designed and created more than five million square feet of corporate office space and helped grow the firm from five to 55 people.

In a bold move, she elected to sell her interest in the firm to create a new business focused on helping organizations and individuals develop and harness creativity in their everyday operations. Her vision: to bring together the best and most current sources of creativity and innovation expertise in an environment that spurs sustainable change for her organizational and individual clients. Mosby credits her career as a designer with enabling her to develop skills that she now passes on to Infinium clients.

Mosby believes designers are innovators – "glass-half-full" people who focus on possibilities rather than limitations. "Designers visualize what an empty space could look like when it is completed and furnished in the same way that innovators envision the future of their organizations and the future of their customers' needs."

Armed with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Mosby quickly learned a good designer has to be adept at problem seeking — understanding the real problem, not just the perceived problem — and that the process of questioning, challenging and rethinking potential solutions was as important as the answer itself.

Mosby’s next step was to gain knowledge of organizational dynamics. She was fortunate enough to find a mentor in Peter Block, an international expert in the field. Mosby and Block eventually co-founded the organization Space: Making Community.

As time passed, Mosby noticed clients were asking to create spaces to make their organizations more creative and innovative. “I was designing environments in an effort to help them reach this goal," says Mosby, "but I quickly recognized merely having a 'creative' space was not enough to sustain creativity or innovation within a company and that a new environment didn’t necessarily change the way the company worked. There was a real need for a resource that could help companies harness creativity to improve operations and sustain growth."
